Once One Team – Chanhassen and Chaska Lacrosse Program Becomes Two
Since the Chanhassen-Chaska co-op lacrosse program grew to an unmanageable size of 70 players, the schools have decided to split the teams. Once a single entity, Chanhassen and Chaska have to part ways. The schools look at it as a fresh start with a new team for each community, and more playing time for all!
Now rivals in yet another sport, the two teams will be head to head against each other starting in May! It’s all in fun, but Chanhassen might have gotten the better end of the stick. Coach Jon Junker plans on starting a few of the seniors that were know for their heavy offensive skills. The real challenge is playing a team of former teammates! Although they both have had equal amounts of experience, reality will set in at the game on May 8th.
Chanhassen Boys’ Lacrosse starts the season on April 15th versus Holy Family Catholic at 7 p.m. The ultimate rivalry game is at Chaska starting at 7 p.m. on May 8th with a rematch on May 20th. Chanhassen lost a few good defensive players to Chaska, but the boys are more determined than ever. Be there to cheer on your new lacrosse team!
