Make-A-Wish Grants Wish for Chanhassen High Student
A Chanhassen High School student and his family just saw a big wish come true: a family trip to Hawaii.
According to the Chanhassen Villager, Nicholas White and his family were surprised earlier this month with a send-off party at Snuffy’s Malt Shop in Minnetonka.
A year ago Nicholas White was a junior at Chanhassen High School when he started having chest pain in gym class, the newspaper reported. After some tests Nicholas and his family found out he had a tumor the size of an orange on his right adrenal gland, and then all the treatment begun.
Nicholas rebounded from surgery to remove the tumor quickly, however, the diagnosis for this type of tumor cannot be determined, so he will continue to be monitored. But, because he had been through such a life threatening illness, he qualified for Make a Wish’s program, the newspaper said.
“Last year at this time, we spent a lot of days and nights at the hospital,” Holly White, Nicholas’ mother, told the paper. “It was gut-wrenching. It was traumatic for us as a family. Now we can do something together as a family to create new, fun, happy memories. It’s something good to look forward to after having focused on something so bad for so long.”
