(It’s the Broadway hit that made Dick Van Dyke a star.) Publicity agent and songwriter Albert Peterson is in a pickle when his client, Elvis-like rock & roll star Conrad Birdie, is drafted into the Army. Albert’s sweetheart Rosie Alvarez comes up with a last-ditch national publicity scheme to save Albert and persuade him to give up the music business: Birdie will sing Albert’s new song live on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” where the heartthrob will also grant one last kiss to a teenage fan before going overseas. Kim MacAfee of Sweet Apple, Ohio wins the honor. All the telephones in her town are ringing off the hook and the entire town is reeling with anticipation. Chanhassen Dinner Theaters is “spreadin’ sunshine all over the place” with this happy-go-lucky Tony Award-winning musical. The inventive musical score includes such hits as: “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Boy,” “The Telephone Hour,” “One Last Kiss” and “Kids.” Bye Bye Birdie and its theme of parents and kids will completely resonate with audiences of every generation.”Put on a Happy Face” with this Tony Award-Winning Musical Classic!

Looking for a laugh? Come out Friday and Saturday Nights!

This is NOT your typical Chanhassen show! The Playhouse doors open one hour prior to show time. The show begins at 8:00 pm every Friday and Saturday night. Arrive early and order something before or during the show from our Grill Menu or the Playhouse bar. Delicious desserts are also available.  The Stevie Ray’s Comedy Troupe performs a comedy variety show of improv, sketches, and music. Improv is comedy based on audience suggestions, similar to the hit television show, “Whose Line is it Anyway?” The show is fast-paced, clean, and very funny. And if you are celebrating a birthday, company party, or other special events, just give the hostess a note when you arrive and the troupe will do something special during the show. They might even bring a member of your party on stage to join in an improv and be a star in the show.

“The type of improvisation performed at Stevie Ray’s not only allows us to use audience input, but also gives us the freedom to play off holidays and events.  Throughout the year, we will be adding special material and songs about themes of the day.”

Coming soon just for the Holiday Season!

Hometown Christmas Pageant-

Christmas at Chanhassen this year includes a sparkling new, holiday musical revue with a Hometown Christmas Pageant. It’s complete with a homespun story about five townspeople who have written the annual Christmas pageant. It’s complete with humor, charm and a treasure chest of holiday tunes and carols to delight: “Deck the Halls,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain,” “Up on the Housetop,” “ The First Noel,” “The Incredible Biblical Sixty-Six,” and many, many more. A Hometown Christmas Pageant will be playing at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater for a limited time from November 16- December 31, 2012 and
promises to be jolly good fun and will put audiences into the spirit of the season!
