Don Johnson Named Chanhassen’s First Full-Time Fire Chief
Chanhassen has a new chief in town, and he means business. Don Johnson is the first ever full-time fire chief, hired to meet the fire safety needs of the community. He is more than ready to get started in his role, already meeting with city fire officials and attending the mayor’s state-of-the-city address. Johnson’s official start day is May 5th.
Once he begins the new position, his plan is to simply “look, listen and learn”. Johnson has much respect for the current fire department employees and looks forward to leading an already excellent team. Johnson has accomplished much between working for Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Lakeville Fire Department – let’s just say his resume is impressive. He is a great catch for fast-growing Chanhassen.
Although, Chanhassen rarely experiences extreme emergencies, preparedness is crucial. Chanhassen has 48 fire fighters on staff right now, compared to the 78 Chief Johnson was used to in Lakeville. Johnson is very appreciative of this opportunity to take care of such an outstanding community.
