‘Colors of Fall’ Now Open at Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Fall has officially arrived in Minnesota, and all of its colors are being showcased at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen.

The “Colors of Fall” is now running daily through Oct. 31 and is free with gate admission to the Arboretum’s grounds. Here’s how it’s described by the Arboretum:

“Enjoy the ‘Colors of Fall’ – natural and man-made – at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. With its many tree and shrub collections and its amazing variety of landscapes – from big woods to prairie – the Arboretum has some of the most diverse fall color in the greater metro area. It is a perfect place for a fall walk or jog with 12 miles of hiking trails that meander through woods, prairies and gardens. Arboretum visitors also will enjoy ‘fall fun’ for all ages and interests.”

There are a handful of events and exhibits that coincide with the Colors of Fall theme, including:

Scarecrows in the Garden (Sept. 14 through Oct. 26)
Whimsical scarecrows, sponsored and created by Bachman’s, as well as Arboretum staff, will be on display outdoors between the Oswald Visitor Center and Snyder Building. Vote for your favorites! Free with gate admission. (Also, for terrific fall decorating tips, visit Bachman’s Fall Ideas House, Sept. 11-Oct. 5, with 20 percent of ticket proceeds benefiting the Arboretum.)

‘Nature’ Walking Play (Thursdays through Sundays Sept. 12 through Oct. 12)

TigerLion Arts presents a new staging of its popular “Nature” walking play about the friendship between Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, performed on the Arboretum grounds. $20-$25 (incl. gate admission). Showtimes are 5 p.m. Thursdays & Fridays, 1 & 5 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays, Sept. 12-Oct. 12.
