Chanhassen Wins Awards for Being a Top Livable Community
The residents of Chanhassen, as well as the National Research Center (NRC), are both pleased with the livability of the west-metro suburb. The NRC recently gave Chanhassen four 2014 Voice of the People Awards.
Chanhassen took home the top awards in the Safety, Natural Environment, Built Environment, and Recreation and Wellness categories, according to a city press release. The awards were based on residents’ opinions and there were a total of eight categories.
“Communities that are selected embody the spirit of the National Citizen Survey and display commitment to best practices in moving their communities forward,” the release said.
Since 2005 the City of Chanhassen has used the NRC to gather residents’ perspectives to help guide future planning. In 2013, research showed that Chanhassen residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life, the natural environment is a key feature and asset that residents appreciate, and a strong economy makes the city a desirable community to live in, so it’s no wonder the Chanhassen took home so many awards in related areas.
The city thanked residents for participating in the surveys and for contributing to the awards. Read the full release here.
