Be Move-In Ready with Your New Chanhassen Home; Simple Checklist to Do
Congratulations! You’ve purchased your first Chanhassen home, and you are ready to move in, but there are a few things you should double-check before you do so. Whether you are a new homeowner or have owned many, sometimes you overlook important details.
First, make sure to change the locks on all exterior doors. Yes – you are in a safe neighborhood, but you should always change your security to make it your own – who knows how many of the sellers’ friends and acquaintances had keys. Another often overlooked step includes locating the water shutoff valve. If there is an emergency you may need to turn off the water quickly to prevent further leakage and property damage.
Next, be sure to test all smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms. Better yet, just change all the batteries to ensure that they are all working properly. Lastly, test the GFCI circuit breakers and see how many outlets are affected when one trips. Also, don’t forget to label each circuit breaker in the box to save you time when interruptions occur.
