Bandimere Community Park Looking to Expand in the Near Future

After twenty five years of enjoyment by the community, Bandimere Community Park is now being prepared for an expansion. Chanhassen residents want to add some new features to the development to make it more family-friendly. Located right off of Highway 101, the city’s Park and Recreation Commission is reviewing the plans now.

In addition to the original 36 acres, an adjacent 4.5 acres was acquired in 2012. Now the city is considering an ice rink, tennis courts, and additional soccer fields. Targeting the expansion for 2014, the planning budget is set at $25,000 and the concept is currently under review!

Other exciting additions include: free skating area, warming house, restrooms, storage space, and a shelter building near the playgrounds. Chanhassen locals have a good chance at getting everything they want, and look forward to the extra lighting for athletic fields, and for more than one game being played at once! Good things are to come for the community – just waiting for it to warm up.
